"Tsasouna" is the name in Carelia for a house of prayer, the word derives from Russian word "tsasovnja" which means a chapel.
Chapels are usually made from wood if the building is made of stone or tile it usually is called just an ordinary chapel.
The "tsasouna" in Lieksa church park is even today a land mark proving how deep the roots of Orthodoxy are in history.
The birth moments of that particular "Tsasouna" go back to 1769, which makes it the oldest in Finland.
It's unique in Europe. It is unbeliable that this small ortodox "tsasouna" small chapel has been standing unharmed in the Lutheran Church Park.
